And said unto him,Artthou he that should come , or do we look for another?4Jesusansweredandsaid unto them,Go and shewJohnagain those things which ye do hearandsee :5The blind receive their sight , and the lamewalk , the lepers are cleansed , and the deafhear , the dead are raised up , and the poor have the gospel preached to them .6Andblessedis he, whosoevershallnot be offendedinme.7Andas they departed , Jesusbegan to say unto the multitudesconcerningJohn,What went ye out into the wilderness to see ? A reedshakenwith the wind?8Butwhat went ye out for to see ? A manclothedinsoftraiment?behold , they that wearsoft clothing areinkings'houses.9Butwhat went ye out for to see ? A prophet?yea, I say unto you, andmore than a prophet.10Forthisis he, ofwhom it is written , Behold , Isendmymessengerbeforethyface, which shall preparethywaybeforethee.11Verily I say unto you,Among them that are born of women there hathnotrisen a greater thanJohn the Baptist:notwithstanding he that is leastin the kingdom of heavenis greater thanhe.12Andfrom the days of John the Baptistuntilnow the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence , and the violenttakeit by force .13Forall the prophetsand the lawprophesieduntilJohn.14Andif ye willreceive it, thisisElias, which was for to come .15He that hathears to hear , let him hear .16Butwhereunto shall I likenthisgeneration? It islike unto childrensittingin the markets, andcalling unto theirfellows,17Andsaying , We have piped unto you,and ye havenotdanced ; we have mourned unto you,and ye havenotlamented .18ForJohncameneithereatingnordrinking , and they say , He hath a devil.19The Son of mancameeatinganddrinking , and they say , Behold a mangluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicansandsinners.Butwisdom is justifiedofherchildren.20Then began he to upbraid the citieswhereinmost of his mighty works were done , because they repentednot:21Woe unto thee,Chorazin!woe unto thee,Bethsaida!forif the mighty works, which were doneinyou, had been doneinTyreandSidon, they would have repented long agoinsackclothandashes.22But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for TyreandSidonat the day of judgment, than for you.23Andthou,Capernaum,which art exalteduntoheaven, shalt be brought downtohell:forif the mighty works, which have been doneinthee, had been doneinSodom, it would have remaineduntil this day.24But I say unto you,That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodomin the day of judgment, than for thee.25AtthattimeJesusanswered and said , I thankthee, O Father,Lord of heavenandearth, because thou hast hid these thingsfrom the wiseandprudent, and hast revealedthem unto babes.26Even so,Father:forso it seemedgood in thysight.27All things are delivered unto meofmyFather:and no manknoweth the Son,but the Father;neitherknoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and hetowhomsoever the Sonwillreveal him.28Comeuntome,all ye that labourand are heavy laden , and I will giveyourest .29Takemyyokeuponyou,andlearnofme;for I ammeekandlowly in heart:and ye shall findrest unto yoursouls.30Formyyoke is easy, andmyburdenislight.
