For it is written , I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
That, according as it is written , He that glorieth , let him glory in the Lord.
But as it is written , Eye hath not seen , nor ear heard , neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written , He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written , that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.
I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you.
I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:
But now I have written unto you not to keep company , if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat .
Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.
For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn . Doth God take care for oxen?
Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written : that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.
But I have used none of these things : neither have I written these things, that it should be so done unto me: for it were better for me to die , than that any man should make my glorying void .
Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written , The people sat down to eat and drink , and rose up to play .
Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come .
In the law it is written , With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord.
If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.
And so it is written , The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written , Death is swallowed up in victory.
My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen. [The first epistle to the Corinthians was written from Philippi by Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus and Timotheus.]
