And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.
And all they that heard them laid them up in their hearts, saying , What manner of child shall this be ! And the hand of the Lord was with him.
(Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed .
And as the people were in expectation , and all men mused in their hearts of John, whether he were the Christ, or not;
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted , to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised ,
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh .
Those by the way side are they that hear ; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved .
But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.
And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a child, and set him by him,
And he answering said , Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
For where your treasure is , there will your heart be also.
But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming ; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink , and to be drunken ;
And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.
Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer :
And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.
Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken :
And they said one to another , Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?
