There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.
But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard ; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.
And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,
To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.
And, behold , thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
And it came to pass , that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father.
And he asked for a writing table, and wrote , saying , His name is John. And they marvelled all.
And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child , his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
And, behold , there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.
And after these things he went forth , and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he said unto him, Follow me.
Blessed are ye , when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.
And, behold , there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus' feet, and besought him that he would come into his house:
And said unto them, Whosoever shall receive this child in my name receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great.
And John answered and said , Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us.
Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice , because your names are written in heaven.
Now it came to pass , as they went , that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.
And he said unto them, When ye pray , say , Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come . Thy will be done , as in heaven, so in earth.
Behold , your house is left unto you desolate: and verily I say unto you , Ye shall not see me, until the time come when ye shall say , Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores ,
And, behold , there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich.
Saying , Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.
And he said , Take heed that ye be not deceived : for many shall come in my name, saying , I am Christ; and the time draweth near : go ye not therefore after them.
But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.
And, behold , there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just:
And, behold , two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs.
And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days?
And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
