8Thereforeshallherplaguescomeinoneday,death,andmourning,andfamine;and she shall be utterly burnedwithfire:forstrong is the LordGodwhojudgethher.9And the kings of the earth,who have committed fornicationand lived deliciouslywithher, shall bewailher,andlamentforher,when they shall see the smoke of herburning,10Standingafarofffor the fear of hertorment,saying , Alas,alas, that greatcityBabylon, that mightycity!forinonehouristhyjudgmentcome .
11And the merchants of the earth shall weepandmournoverher;for no manbuyeththeirmerchandise any more:12
The merchandise of gold,andsilver,andpreciousstones,and of pearls,and fine linen,andpurple,andsilk,andscarlet,andallthyineawood,and all mannervessels of ivory,and all mannervesselsof most preciouswood,and of brass,andiron,andmarble,13Andcinnamon,andodours,andointments,andfrankincense,andwine,andoil,and fine flour,andwheat,andbeasts,andsheep,andhorses,andchariots,andslaves,bandsouls of men.14And the fruits that thysoul lusted after are departedfromthee,and all thingswhich were daintyandgoodly are departedfromthee,and thou shalt findthem no more at all.15
The merchants of these things,which were made richbyher, shall standafarofffor the fear of hertorment,weepingandwailing ,
16Andsaying , Alas,alas, that greatcity, that was clothed in fine linen,andpurple,andscarlet,anddeckedwithgold,andpreciousstones,andpearls!17For in onehour so greatriches is come to nought . Andeveryshipmaster,andall the companyinships,andsailors,and as many astrade by sea,stoodafaroff,18Andcried when they saw the smoke of herburning,saying , What city is like unto this greatcity!
