4Wherefore,mybrethren,yealso are become dead to the lawby the body of Christ;thatye should be married to another, even to him who is raisedfrom the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.5Forwhen we werein the flesh, the motionsa of sins, which were by the law, did workinourmembers to bring forth fruit unto death.6Butnow we are deliveredfrom the law, that being deadwhereinwe were held ; thatwe should serveinnewness of spirit, andnot in the oldness of the letter.7What shall we saythen? Is the lawsin? God forbid . Nay, I hadnotknownsin, butby the law:forIhadnotknownlust, bexcept the law had said , Thou shaltnotcovet .
8Butsin,takingoccasionby the commandment, wroughtinme all manner ofconcupiscence.Forwithout the lawsin was dead.9ForI was alivewithout the lawonce:but when the commandmentcame , sinrevived , andIdied .
10And the commandment,which was ordained tolife,Ifound to be untodeath.11Forsin,takingoccasionby the commandment,deceivedme,andbyitslew me.
12Whereforethelaw is holy,and the commandmentholy,andjust,andgood.13
Was then that which is goodmadedeath unto me? God forbid . Butsin, that it might appearsin, workingdeath in meby that which is good;thatsinby the commandment might becomeexceedingsinful.14For we knowthat the lawisspiritual:butIamcarnal, soldundersin.
