1Nowwhen he had endedallhissayingsin the audience of the people, he enteredintoCapernaum.2And a certaincenturion'sservant, whowasdear unto him, wassick, and ready to die .
3And when he heardofJesus, he sentuntohim the elders of the Jews, beseechinghimthat he would come and healhisservant.4And when they cametoJesus, they besoughthiminstantly, saying , That he wasworthy for whom he should dothis:5For he lovethournation, andhe hath builtus a synagogue.6ThenJesuswentwiththem.And when hewasnownotfarfrom the house, the centurionsentfriendstohim, saying unto him,Lord, troublenotthyself : for I amnotworthythat thou shouldest enterundermyroof:7Whereforeneither thought Imyselfworthy to comeuntothee:butsay in a word, andmyservant shall be healed .
8ForIalsoam a mansetunderauthority,havingundermesoldiers,and I say unto one,aGo , and he goeth ; and to another,Come , and he cometh ; and to myservant,Dothis,and he doeth it.
9WhenJesusheard these things, he marvelled at him,and turned him about , and said unto the people that followedhim, I say unto you,I have not found so greatfaith, no, notinIsrael.10And they that were sent , returningto the house, found the servantwhole that had been sick .
11And it came to pass the day after, that he wentinto a citycalledNain;andmany of hisdisciples went withhim,andmuchpeople.12Nowwhen he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold , there was a dead man carried out , the onlyson of hismother, andshewas a widow:andmuchpeople of the citywaswithher.13And when the Lordsawher, he had compassiononher, andsaid unto her,Weepnot.14And he came and touched the bier:band they that bare him stood still . And he said , Young man, I say unto thee,Arise .15And he that was dead sat up , andbegan to speak . And he deliveredhim to hismother.16And there came a fear on all:and they glorifiedGod,saying , That a greatprophet is risen upamongus;and,ThatGod hath visitedhispeople.17Andthisrumourofhim went forththroughoutallJudaea, andthroughoutall the region round about.18And the disciples of Johnshewedhimofall these things.19AndJohncalling unto him twoofhisdisciplessent them toJesus, saying , Artthou he that should come ? or look we foranother?20When the men were comeuntohim, they said , JohnBaptist hath sentusuntothee, saying , Artthou he that should come ? or look we foranother?21Andin that samehour he curedmanyof their infirmitiesandplagues, and of evilspirits;and unto many that were blind he gavesight .
22ThenJesusansweringsaid unto them,Go your way , and tellJohn what things ye have seenandheard ; how that the blindsee , the lamewalk , the lepers are cleansed , the deafhear , the dead are raised , to the poor the gospel is preached .23Andblessedis he, whosoevershallnot be offendedinme.24And when the messengers of John were departed , he began to speakunto the peopleconcerningJohn,What went ye outinto the wilderness for to see ? A reedshakenwith the wind?25Butwhat went ye out for to see ? A manclothedinsoftraiment?Behold , they which aregorgeouslyapparelled, andlivedelicately, arein kings' courts.26Butwhat went ye out for to see ? A prophet?Yea, I say unto you,and much more than a prophet.27Thisis he, ofwhom it is written , Behold , Isendmymessengerbeforethyface, which shall preparethywaybeforethee.28For I say unto you,Among those that are born of women there isnot a greaterprophetthanJohn the Baptist:but he that is leastin the kingdom of Godis greater thanhe.29Andall the people that heard him, and the publicans, justifiedGod, being baptized with the baptism of John.30But the Phariseesandlawyersrejectedc the counsel of Godagainstthemselves,beingnotbaptizedofhim.31And the Lordsaid , Whereuntothen shall I liken the men of thisgeneration?and to what are theylike?32They arelike unto childrensittingin the marketplace, andcalling one to another, andsaying , We have piped unto you,and ye havenotdanced ; we have mourned to you,and ye havenotwept .33ForJohn the Baptistcameneithereatingbreadnordrinkingwine;and ye say , He hath a devil.34The Son of man is comeeatinganddrinking ; and ye say , Behold a gluttonousman, and a winebibber, a friend of publicansandsinners!35Butwisdom is justifiedofallherchildren.36Andone of the Phariseesdesiredhimthat he would eatwithhim. And he wentinto the Pharisee'shouse, and sat down to meat .
37And,behold , a womanin the city, whichwas a sinner, when she knewthat Jesus sat at meatin the Pharisee'shouse, brought an alabaster box of ointment,38Andstoodathisfeetbehind him weeping , and began to washhisfeet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of herhead, andkissedhisfeet, andanointed them with the ointment.39Now when the Phariseewhich had biddenhimsaw it, he spakewithinhimself, saying , This man,if he were a prophet , would have knownwhoand what manner of woman this is thattouchethhim:for she is a sinner.40AndJesusansweringsaiduntohim,Simon, I havesomewhat to say unto thee. And he saith , Master, say on .
41There was a certaincreditor which had twodebtors: the oneowed five hundredpence, and the otherfifty.42And when theyhadnothing to pay , he frankly forgave them both. Tell metherefore, which of them will lovehimmost?43Simonansweredandsaid , I supposethat he, to whom he forgavemost. And he said unto him,Thou hastrightlyjudged .44And he turnedto the woman, and said unto Simon,Seest thouthiswoman? I enteredintothinehouse, thou gavest menowaterformyfeet:butshe hath washedmyfeet with tears, andwiped them with the hairs of herhead.45Thou gavestmenokiss:but this womansince the time I came inhathnotceased to kissmyfeet.46Myhead with oil thou didstnotanoint : but this woman hath anointedmyfeet with ointment.47WhereforeIsay unto thee,Hersins, which are many, are forgiven ; for she lovedmuch:but to whomlittle is forgiven , the same lovethlittle.48And he said unto her,Thysins are forgiven .49And they that sat at meat with himbegan to saywithinthemselves,Whoisthisthatforgivethsinsalso?50And he saidto the woman,Thyfaith hath savedthee;goinpeace.
