1 And the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah [a] second [time] while he [was] still held back in the courtyard of the guard, {saying},

Jeremiah 33:1

Moreover the word of the Lord came unto Jeremiah the second
time
Not that this was precisely the second time that the word of the Lord came to the prophet, for it had come to him many more times than those; but this was the second time on the same occasion and subject; for the subject of this chapter is the same with that of the former, concerning the Messiah, and the happiness of the church in his times: (while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison):
though the prophet could not go out from hence, and publish his prophecies, yet the Lord visits him again and again; and his presence made the prison a palace to him; and though his afflictions, abounded for the sake of him, his comforts abounded through him; and though he was bound, the word of the Lord was not; it had a free course, and ran, and was glorified; it found its way into the prison, and also out of it: saying:

1 And the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah [a] second [time] while he [was] still held back in the courtyard of the guard, {saying},
2 "Thus says Yahweh who made [the earth], Yahweh who formed it to establish it, Yahweh [is] his name:
3 'Call to me, and I will answer you, and I will tell you great [things] and inaccessible [things that] you have not known.'
4 For thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah, that were torn down [to make a defense] against the siege ramps and against the sword:
5 '[They are] coming to fight against the Chaldeans, and to fill them with the corpses of the people whom I will strike in my anger and in my wrath, for whom I have hidden my face from this city because of all their wickedness.
