Job 6:23

23 Nor did I beg you to go out on a limb for me. So why all this dodging and shuffling?

Job 6:23 Meaning and Commentary

Job 6:23

Or, deliver me from the enemies' hand?
&c.] Or, "out of the hand of straitness" F3; out of tribulation and difficulties with which he was pressed on every side:

or redeem me from the hand of the mighty?
fetch back his cattle out of the hands of the Sabeans and Chaldeans, either by force of arms, as Abraham brought back Lot, and all his goods, when taken and carried away by the four king's, or by giving a ransom price for them. Job had asked no such favour of them; he had not troubled them with any such suits, and therefore they had no reason to use him in the manner they did, as he apprehended; it would be soon enough to flout and fling at him when he applied to them for any relief.

Job 6:23 In-Context

21 And you, my so-called friends, are no better - there's nothing to you! One look at a hard scene and you shrink in fear.
22 It's not as though I asked you for anything - I didn't ask you for one red cent -
23 Nor did I beg you to go out on a limb for me. So why all this dodging and shuffling?
24 "Confront me with the truth and I'll shut up, show me where I've gone off the track.
25 Honest words never hurt anyone, but what's the point of all this pious bluster?
