Whatever they plot1 against the LORD hea will bring to an end; trouble will not come a second time.

They will be entangled among thorns2 and drunk3 from their wine; they will be consumed like dry stubble.b4

From you, [O Nineveh, ] has one come forth who plots evil against the LORD and counsels wickedness.

This is what the LORD says: "Although they have allies and are numerous, they will be cut off5 and pass away. Although I have afflicted you, [O Judah, ] I will afflict you no more.6

Now I will break their yoke7 from your neck and tear your shackles away."8

The LORD has given a command concerning you, [Nineveh]: "You will have no descendants to bear your name.9 I will destroy the carved images10 and cast idols that are in the temple of your gods. I will prepare your grave,11 for you are vile."
15
Look, there on the mountains, the feet of one who brings good news,12 who proclaims peace!13 Celebrate your festivals,14 O Judah, and fulfill your vows. No more will the wicked invade you;15 they will be completely destroyed.
