Then Daviddwelt in the stronghold ; therefore it was called the city of David.

He abuilt the cityallaround, from the bMillo even to the surroundingarea ; and Joabcrepaired the rest of the city.
92Davidbecamegreater and greater, for the LORD of hosts was with him.
103Now these are the heads of the mightymenwhomDavid had, who gave him strongsupport in his kingdom, together with allIsrael, to make him king, 4according to the word of the LORDconcerningIsrael.

He was with David at fPasdammim8when the Philistines were gathered together there to battle, and there was a plot of groundfull of barley ; and the peoplefledbefore the Philistines.

They took their stand in the midst of the plot and defended it, and struckdown the Philistines ; and the LORDsaved them by a greatgvictory.

Now three of the thirtychiefmenwentdown to the rock to David, into the cave of Adullam, while 9the army of the Philistines was camping in the valley of Rephaim.
16David was then in the stronghold, while 10the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem.
