1So DavidassembledallIsrael together, from the Shihor of Egypt even to the entrance of Hamath, 2to bring the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim.

3David and allIsraelwent up to 4Baalah, that is, to Kiriath-jearim, which belongs to Judah, to bring up from there the ark of God, the LORD5who is enthroned above the cherubim, where His name is called.

They carried the ark of God on a newcart from 6the house of Abinadab, and Uzza and Ahiodrove the cart.

David and allIsrael were celebratingbeforeGod with all their might, 7even with songs and with lyres, harps, tambourines, cymbals and with trumpets.

When they came to 8the threshingfloor of Chidon, Uzzaput out his hand to hold the ark, because the oxen nearly upset it.

The anger of the LORDburned against Uzza, so He struck him down9because* he put out his hand to the ark; 10and he diedtherebeforeGod.

Then Davidbecameangrybecause of the LORD'Soutburst* against Uzza; and he called that placePerez-uzza to thisday.

David was afraid of God that day, saying, "How can I bring the ark of God home to me?"

So David did not take the ark with him to the city of David, but took it aside11to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.

Thus the ark of Godremained with the family of Obed-edom in his housethreemonths; and 12the LORDblessed the family of Obed-edom with all that he had.
The contents of this chapter are the same with 2Sa 6:1-11, only David's consultation with the principal men of Israel concerning the affair herein transacted is premised in the first four verses of this.
