They carried the ark of God on a newcart from 1the house of Abinadab, and Uzza and Ahiodrove the cart.

David and allIsrael were celebratingbeforeGod with all their might, 2even with songs and with lyres, harps, tambourines, cymbals and with trumpets.

When they came to 3the threshingfloor of Chidon, Uzzaput out his hand to hold the ark, because the oxen nearly upset it.

The anger of the LORDburned against Uzza, so He struck him down4because* he put out his hand to the ark; 5and he diedtherebeforeGod.

Then Davidbecameangrybecause of the LORD'Soutburst* against Uzza; and he called that placePerez-uzza to thisday.

David was afraid of God that day, saying, "How can I bring the ark of God home to me?"

So David did not take the ark with him to the city of David, but took it aside6to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.

Thus the ark of Godremained with the family of Obed-edom in his housethreemonths; and 7the LORDblessed the family of Obed-edom with all that he had.
The contents of this chapter are the same with 2Sa 6:1-11, only David's consultation with the principal men of Israel concerning the affair herein transacted is premised in the first four verses of this.
