11Now it came about in the fourhundred and eightiethyear after the sons of Israelcame out of the land of Egypt, in the fourthyear of Solomon'sreignoverIsrael, in the month of Zivwhich is the secondmonth, that he abegan to build the house of the LORD.
As for the housewhichKingSolomonbuilt for the LORD, its length was sixtybcubits and its widthtwenty cubits and its heightthirtycubits.
The porch in front of the nave of the house was twentycubitscin length, dcorresponding to the width of the house, and its edepthalong the front of the house was tencubits.
Also for the house2he madewindows with artistic frames.
53Against the wall of the house he builtstoriesencompassing the walls of the housearound both the nave and the 4innersanctuary; thus he made5sidechambersallaround.
The loweststory was fivecubitswide, and the middle was sixcubitswide, and the third was sevencubitswide; for on the outside he fmadeoffsets in the wall of the houseallaround in order that the beams would not gbe inserted in the walls of the house.
76The house, while it was being built, was built of stonehprepared at the quarry, and there was neitherhammernoraxenoranyirontoolheard in the house while it was being built.
The doorway for the ilowestsidechamber was on the rightside of the house; and they would go up by windingstairs to the middle story, and from the middle to the third.
So 7he built the house and finished it; and he covered the house with beams and jplanks of cedar.
He also built the storiesagainst the wholehouse, each fivekcubitshigh; and they lwere fastened to the house with timbers of cedar.
Now the word of the LORDcame to Solomonsaying,
"Concerning thishousewhich you are building, 8if you will walk in My statutes and execute My ordinances and keepall My commandments by walking in them, then I will carry out My word with you which I spoke to David your father.
"9I will dwellamong the sons of Israel, and 10will not forsake My peopleIsrael."
1411So Solomonbuilt the house and finished it.
Then he 12built the walls of the house on the inside with boards of cedar; from the floor of the house to the mceiling he overlaid the walls on the inside with wood, and he overlaid the floor of the house with boards of cypress.
1613He builttwentycubits on the rearpart of the house with boards of cedar from the floor to the nceiling; he built them for it on the inside as an innersanctuary, even as 14the mostholyplace.
The house, that is, the nave in front of the inner sanctuary, was fortyocubits long.
There was cedar on the housewithin, carved in the shape of 15gourds and openflowers; all was cedar, there was nostoneseen.
Then he prepared an innersanctuarywithin the house in order to placethere the ark of the covenant of the LORD.
20pThe innersanctuary was twentycubits in length, twentycubits in width, and twentycubits in height, and he overlaid it with puregold. He also overlaid the altar with cedar.
So Solomonoverlaid the inside of the house with puregold. And he drewchains of goldacross the front of the innersanctuary, and he overlaid it with gold.
He overlaid the wholehouse with gold, untilall the house was finished. Also 16the wholealtarwhich was by the innersanctuary he overlaid with gold.
2317Also in the innersanctuary he madetwocherubim of olivewood, each tencubitshigh.
24Fivecubits was the onewing of the cherub and fivecubits the otherwing of the cherub; from the end of one wing to the end of the other wing were tencubits.
The othercherub was tencubits; both the cherubim were of the samemeasure and the sameform.
The height of the onecherub was tencubits, and so was the othercherub.
He placed the cherubim in the midst of the innerhouse, and 18the wings of the cherubim were spread out, so that the wing of the one was touching the one wall, and the wing of the othercherub was touching the otherwall. So their wings were touchingeachother in the center of the house.
He also overlaid the cherubim with gold.
Then he carvedall the walls of the houseroundabout with carvedengravings of cherubim, palmtrees, and openflowers, inner and outer sanctuaries.
He overlaid the floor of the house with gold, inner and outer sanctuaries.
For the entrance of the innersanctuary he madedoors of olivewood, the lintel and five-sideddoorposts.
So he made twodoors of olivewood, and he carved on them carvings of cherubim, palmtrees, and openflowers, and overlaid them with gold; and he spread the gold on the cherubim and on the palmtrees.
33So also he made for the entrance of the navefour-sideddoorposts of olivewood34
and 19twodoors of cypresswood; the twoleaves of the onedoorturned on pivots, and the twoqleaves of the otherdoorturned on pivots.
He carved on it cherubim, palmtrees, and openflowers; and he overlaid them with goldevenlyapplied on the engraved work.
3620He built the innercourt with threerows of cutstone and a row of cedarbeams.
3721In the fourthyear the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid, in the month of Ziv.
In the eleventhyear, in the month of Bul, which is the eighthmonth, the house was finished throughout all its parts and according to all its plans. So he was sevenyears in building it.
