and not a newconvert, so that he will not become 2conceited and fall into the 3condemnationaincurred by the devil.
And he must4have a goodreputation with 5thoseoutside the church, so that he will not fall into reproach and 6the snare of the devil.
87Deaconslikewise must be men of dignity, not bdouble-tongued, c8oraddicted to muchwined9orfond of sordidgain,
910but holding to the mystery of the faith with a clearconscience.
1011These men must alsofirst be tested ; then let them serve as deacons if they are beyondreproach.
11eWomen must likewise be dignified, 12not maliciousgossips, but 13temperate, faithful in allthings.
1214Deacons must be 15husbands of only onewife, and f16goodmanagers of their children and their ownhouseholds.
For those who have servedwell as deacons17obtain for themselves a ghighstanding and greatconfidence in the faith that is in ChristJesus.
