111Zedekiah was twenty-oneyearsold when he becameking, and he reignedelevenyears in Jerusalem.
He didevil in the sight of the LORD his God ; 2he did not humble himself 3beforeJeremiah the prophetawho spoke for the LORD.
134He alsorebelled against KingNebuchadnezzarwho had made him swear allegiance by God. But 5he stiffened his neck and hardened his heartagainstturning to the LORDGod of Israel.
14Furthermore, all the officials of the priests and the people were veryunfaithful following all the abominations of the nations ; and they defiled the house of the LORDwhich He had sanctified in Jerusalem.
The LORD, the God of their fathers, 6sent word to them again and again by His messengers, because He hadcompassion on His people and on His dwellingplace ;
but they continually 7mocked the messengers of God, 8despised His words and scoffed at His prophets, 9until the wrath of the LORDarose against His people, untilthere was noremedy.
1710Therefore He brought up against them the king of the Chaldeans who slew their youngmen with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and hadnocompassion on youngman or virgin, oldman or infirm ; He gave them all into his hand.
1811All the articles of the house of God, great and small, and the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king and of his officers, he brought them all to Babylon.
