11Now Davidagain*gatheredall the chosen men of Israel, thirtythousand.
2
And Davidarose and went with all the peoplewho were with him to 2Baale-judah, to bring up from there the ark of Godwhich is called by the 3Name, the very name of the LORD of hosts who 4is enthroned above the cherubim.
3
They placed the ark of God on 5a newcart that they might bring it from the house of Abinadabwhich was on the hill; and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, were leading the newcart.
4
So 6they brought it with the ark of God from the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill; and Ahio was walkingahead of the ark.
5
Meanwhile, David and all the house of Israel7were celebratingbefore the LORD8with all kinds of instruments made of firwood, and with lyres, harps, tambourines, castanets and cymbals.
6
But when they came to the 9threshingfloor of Nacon, Uzzah10reached out toward the ark of God and tookhold of it, for the oxen nearly upset it.
7
And the anger of the LORDburned against Uzzah, and 11Godstruck him downthere for his irreverence; and he diedthere by the ark of God.
8
Davidbecameangrybecause* of the LORD'Soutburst* against Uzzah, and that place is calledPerez-uzzah to thisday.
9
So 12David was afraid of the LORD that day; and he said, "How can the ark of the LORDcome to me?"
10
And David was unwilling* to move the ark of the LORD into the city of David with him; but Davidtook it aside to the house of 13Obed-edom the Gittite.
11
Thus the ark of the LORDremained in the house of Obed-edom the Gittitethreemonths, and the LORD14blessedObed-edom and all his household.
