26"Brethren , sons of Abraham'sfamily, and thoseamong you who fearGod, to us the message of 1thissalvation has been sent.
"For those who live in Jerusalem, and their 2rulers, 3recognizing neither Him nor the autterances of 4the prophets which are 5readeverySabbath, fulfilled these by condemning Him.
"And though they foundnoground for putting Him to death, they 6askedPilate that He be bexecuted.
29"When they had 7carried out all that was writtenconcerning Him, 8they took Him down from 9the ccross and 10laid Him in a tomb.
"But God11raised Him from the dead;
and for manydays12He appeared to those who came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem, the very oneswho are now13His witnesses to the people.
"And we 14preach to you the goodnews of 15the promisemade to the fathers,
that God has fulfilledthis promise dto our children in that He 16raised up Jesus, as it is alsowritten in the secondPsalm, '17YOU ARE MY SON; TODAY I HAVE BEGOTTEN YOU.'
"As for the fact that He 18raised Him up from the dead, nolonger to return to decay, He has spoken in thisway: '19I WILL GIVE YOU THE HOLY and eSURE blessings OF DAVID.'
35"Therefore He alsosays in another Psalm, '20YOU WILL NOT fALLOW YOUR gHOLYONE TO hUNDERGODECAY.'
"For 21David, after he had iserved22the purpose of God in his owngeneration, 23fellasleep, and was laidamong his fathers and junderwentdecay;
but He whomGod24raised did not kundergodecay.
38"Therefore let it be known to you, brethren , that 25throughlHim forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you,
and mthrough Him 26everyone who believes is nfreedofrom allthings, from which you could not be pfreedqthrough the Law of Moses.
40"Thereforetakeheed, so that the thingspoken of 27in the Prophets may not come upon you:
'28BEHOLD, YOU SCOFFERS, AND MARVEL, AND rPERISH; FOR I AM ACCOMPLISHING A WORK IN YOUR DAYS, A WORKWHICH YOU WILL NEVERBELIEVE, THOUGHSOMEONE SHOULD DESCRIBE IT TO YOU.' "
As sPaul and Barnabas were going out, the people kept begging that thesetthings might be spoken to them the next29Sabbath.
43Now when the meeting of the synagogue had broken up, many of the Jews and of the 30God-fearingu31proselytesfollowedPaul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, were urging them to continue in 32the grace of God.
The next33Sabbathnearly the wholecityassembled to hear the word of vthe Lord.
But when 34the Jewssaw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began contradicting the thingsspoken by Paul, and were wblaspheming.
46Paul and Barnabasspoke out boldly and said, "It was necessary that the word of God be spoken to you 35first; since you repudiate it and judgeyourselvesunworthy of eternallife, behold, 36we are turning to the Gentiles.
"For so the Lord has commanded us, '37I HAVE PLACED YOU AS A 38LIGHT FOR THE GENTILES, THAT YOU MAY xBRINGSALVATION TO THE END OF THE EARTH.' "
When the Gentilesheard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying39the word of ythe Lord; and as many as 40had beenappointed to eternallifebelieved.
And 41the word of the Lord was being spreadthrough the wholeregion.
But 42the Jewsincited the z43devoutwomen44of prominence and the leadingmen of the city, and instigated a persecutionagainstPaul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their aadistrict.
But 45they shookoff the dust of their feet in protest against them and went to 46Iconium.
And the disciples were continually 47filled with joy and with the HolySpirit.
