'2BEHOLD, YOU SCOFFERS, AND MARVEL, AND aPERISH ; FOR I AM ACCOMPLISHING A WORK IN YOUR DAYS, A WORKWHICH YOU WILL NEVERBELIEVE, THOUGHSOMEONE SHOULD DESCRIBE IT TO YOU.' "

As bPaul and Barnabas were going out, the people kept begging that thesecthings might be spoken to them the next3Sabbath.
43Now when the meeting of the synagogue had broken up, many of the Jews and of the 4God-fearingd5proselytesfollowedPaul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, were urging them to continue in 6the grace of God.

The next7Sabbathnearly the wholecityassembled to hear the word of ethe Lord.

But when 8the Jewssaw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began contradicting the thingsspoken by Paul, and were fblaspheming.
46Paul and Barnabasspoke out boldly and said, "It was necessary that the word of God be spoken to you 9first ; since you repudiate it and judgeyourselvesunworthy of eternallife, behold, 10we are turning to the Gentiles.

"For so the Lord has commanded us, '11I HAVE PLACED YOU AS A 12LIGHT FOR THE GENTILES, THAT YOU MAY gBRINGSALVATION TO THE END OF THE EARTH.' "

When the Gentilesheard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying13the word of hthe Lord ; and as many as 14had beenappointed to eternallifebelieved.

And 15the word of the Lord was being spreadthrough the wholeregion.

But 16the Jewsincited the i17devoutwomen18of prominence and the leadingmen of the city, and instigated a persecutionagainstPaul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their jdistrict.
