85Crispus, 6the leader of the synagogue, believed in the Lord7with all his household, and many of the 8Corinthians when they heard were believing and being baptized.
And the Lordsaid to Paul in the night by 9a vision, "Do not be afraid any longer, but go on speaking and do not be silent;10for I am with you, and noman will attack you in order to harm you, for I have manypeople in thiscity."11
And he settled there a year and sixmonths, teaching the word of Godamong them.
But while Gallio was 10proconsul of 11Achaia, 12the Jews with oneaccordrose up againstPaul and brought him before13the judgmentseat,
13saying, "Thismanpersuadesmen to worshipGodcontrary to 14the law."
But when Paul was about to 15open his mouth, Galliosaid to the Jews, "If it were a matter of wrongor of viciouscrime, OJews, it would be reasonable for me to put up with you;
but if there are 16questionsaboutwords and names and your own law, lookafter it yourselves; I amunwilling to be a judge of these matters."
And he drove them away from 17the judgmentseat.
