2Crispus, 3the leader of the synagogue, believed in the Lord4with all his household, and many of the 5Corinthians when they heard were believing and being baptized.

And the Lordsaid to Paul in the night by 6a vision, "Do not be afraid any longer, but go on speaking and do not be silent;

for I am with you, and noman will attack you in order to harm you, for I have manypeople in thiscity."

And he settled there a year and sixmonths, teaching the word of Godamong them.

But while Gallio was 7proconsul of 8Achaia, 9the Jews with oneaccordrose up againstPaul and brought him before10the judgmentseat,

saying, "Thismanpersuadesmen to worshipGodcontrary to 11the law."

But when Paul was about to 12open his mouth, Galliosaid to the Jews, "If it were a matter of wrongor of viciouscrime, OJews, it would be reasonable for me to put up with you;

but if there are 13questionsaboutwords and names and your own law, lookafter it yourselves; I amunwilling* to be a judge of these matters."

And he drove them away from 14the judgmentseat.

And they alltookhold of 15Sosthenes, 16the leader of the synagogue, and began beating him in front of 17the judgmentseat. But Gallio was not concerned about any of thesethings.
