And the Lordsaid to Paul in the night by 1a vision, "Do not be afraid any longer, but go on speaking and do not be silent;

for I am with you, and noman will attack you in order to harm you, for I have manypeople in thiscity."

And he settled there a year and sixmonths, teaching the word of Godamong them.

But while Gallio was 2proconsul of 3Achaia, 4the Jews with oneaccordrose up againstPaul and brought him before5the judgmentseat,

saying, "Thismanpersuadesmen to worshipGodcontrary to 6the law."

But when Paul was about to 7open his mouth, Galliosaid to the Jews, "If it were a matter of wrongor of viciouscrime, OJews, it would be reasonable for me to put up with you;

but if there are 8questionsaboutwords and names and your own law, lookafter it yourselves; I amunwilling* to be a judge of these matters."

And they alltookhold of 10Sosthenes, 11the leader of the synagogue, and began beating him in front of 12the judgmentseat. But Gallio was not concerned about any of thesethings.

Paul, having remainedmanydayslonger, 13tookleave of 14the brethren and put out to sea for 15Syria, and with him were 16Priscilla and 17Aquila. In 18Cenchrea he 19had his haircut, for he was keeping a vow.

They came to 20Ephesus, and he left them there. Now he himselfentered21the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews.
