"For thisreason some Jews1seized me in the temple and tried2to put me to death.

"So, having obtainedhelp from God, I stand to thisday3testifyingboth to small and great, statingnothing but what4the Prophets and Mosessaid was going to takeplace;

5that the Christ was to suffer, and that 6by reason of His resurrection from the dead He would be the first to proclaim7lightboth to the Jewish people and to the Gentiles."

While Paul was sayingthis in his defense, Festussaid in a loudvoice, "Paul, you are out of your mind! Your great8learning is driving you mad."

But Paulsaid, "I am not out of my mind, 9mostexcellentFestus, but I utterwords of sobertruth.

"For the king10knowsaboutthese matters, and I speak to him also with confidence, since I am persuaded that none* of thesethingsescape his notice; for this has not beendone in a corner.

"KingAgrippa, do you believe the Prophets? I know that you do."

Agrippa replied to Paul, "In a shorttime you will persuade me to become a 11Christian."

And Paul said, "I wouldwish to God, that whether in a shortorlongtime, not only you, but alsoall who hear me thisday, might becomesuch as I am, except for these12chains."

13The kingstood up and the governor and Bernice, and those who were sitting with them,

and when they had goneaside, they began talking to oneanother, saying, "14Thisman is not doinganythingworthy of deathorimprisonment."
