37Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Brethren*, 4what shall we do?"

Peter said to them, "5Repent, and each of you be 6baptized in the name of JesusChrist for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the HolySpirit.

"For 7the promise is for you and your children and for allwho are 8faroff, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself."

And with manyotherwords he solemnly9testified and kept on exhorting them, saying, "Be saved from this10perversegeneration!"

Sothen, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were addedaboutthreethousand11souls.

They were 12continuallydevotingthemselves to the apostles'teaching and to fellowship, to 13the breaking of bread and 14to prayer.

Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many15wonders and signs were takingplacethrough the apostles.

And allthose who had believed were together** and 16hadallthings in common;

and they 17began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might haveneed.

18Day by daycontinuing with onemind in the temple, and 19breakingbread from house to house, they were taking their mealstogether with gladness and sincerity of heart,
