27 When they had brought them, they stood them ^abefore ¹the Council. The high priest questioned them, 28 saying, "We gave you ²strict orders not to continue teaching in this name, and ^byet, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and ³intend to bring this man's blood upon us." 29 But Peter and the apostles answered, "⁴We must obey God rather than men. 30 "⁵The God of our fathers ⁶raised up Jesus, ^cwhom you had ⁷put to death by hanging Him on a ^dcross. 31 "⁸He is the one whom God exalted ^eto His right hand as a ^f⁹Prince and a ¹⁰Savior, to grant ¹¹repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. 32 "And we are ¹²witnesses ^gof these things ; and ¹³so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him."
