Now in 1Joppa there was a disciplenamedTabitha (whichtranslated in Greek is calledDorcas ); thiswoman was abounding with deeds of kindness and charitywhich she continually did.

And it happened at that time that she fellsick and died; and when they had washed her body, they laid it in an 2upperroom.

Since Lydda was near3Joppa, 4the disciples, having heard that Peter was there*, senttwomen to him, imploring him, "Do not delay in coming to us."

SoPeterarose and went with them. When he arrived, they brought him into the 5upperroom; and all the 6widowsstoodbeside him, weeping and showingall the tunics and garments that Dorcas used to makewhile she was with them.

But Peter7sent them all out and 8knelt*down* and prayed, and turning to the body, he said, "9Tabitha, arise." And she opened her eyes, and when she sawPeter, she sat up.

And he gave her his hand and raised her up; and calling10the saints and 11widows, he presented her alive.

It becameknownallover12Joppa, and 13manybelieved in the Lord.

And Peter stayedmanydays in 14Joppa with 15a tanner named Simon.
