13ThenNebuchadnezzar in 1rage and angergaveorders to bringShadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego; thenthesemen were broughtbefore the king.
14Nebuchadnezzarresponded and said to them, "Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego, that you do not serve2my gods or worship the goldenimage that I have set up?
15"Nowif you are ready, 3at the moment you hear the sound of the horn, flute, alyre, trigon, psaltery and bagpipe and allkinds of music, to falldown and worship the image that I have made, very well. But if you do not worship, you will bimmediately be 4cast into the midst of a furnace of blazingfire; and 5whatgod is there who can deliver you out of my hands?"
166Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-negoreplied to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to give you an answerconcerningthismatter.
"cIf it be so, our 7Godwhom we serve is able to deliver us from the furnace of blazingfire; dand 8He will deliver us out of your hand, O king.
"9But even if He does not, 10let it be known to you, O king, that we are not going to serve your gods or worship the goldenimage that you have set up."
19ThenNebuchadnezzar was filled with 11wrath, and his facialexpression was alteredtowardShadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego. He answeredeby givingorders to heat the furnaceseventimesmorethan it was usuallyheated.
He commandedcertainvaliantwarriorswho were in his army to tie up Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego in order to cast them into the furnace of blazingfire.
21Thenthesemen were tied up in their f12trousers, their gcoats, their caps and their other clothes, and were cast into the midst of the furnace of blazingfire.
For thisreason , because the king'shcommand was i13urgent and the furnace had been madeextremelyhot, the flame of the fireslewthosemenwhocarried up Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego.
But thesethreemen, Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego, 14fell into the midst of the furnace of blazingfire still tied up.
24ThenNebuchadnezzar the king was astounded and stood up in haste; he said to his highofficials, "Was it not threemen we castbound into the midst of the fire?" They replied to the king, "Certainly, O king."
He said, "Look! I seefourmenloosed and 15walking about in the midst of the firejwithoutharm, and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the 16gods!"
26ThenNebuchadnezzarcamenear to the door of the furnace of blazingfire; he responded and said, "Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego, come out, you servants of the 17MostHighGod, and comehere!" ThenShadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego18came out of the midst of the fire.
The 19satraps, the prefects, the governors and the king'shighofficialsgatheredaround and saw in regard to thesemen that the 20firehadnokeffect on lthe bodies of these men nor was the hair of their headsinged, nor were their m21trousersndamaged, nor had the smell of fire even come upon them.
28Nebuchadnezzarresponded and said, "Blessed be the 22God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego, who has 23sent His angel and delivered His servantswhoput their 24trust in Him, oviolating the king'scommand, and yielded up their bodiesso as 25not to serve or worshipanygodexcept their own God.
"Therefore I 26make a decree that anypeople, nation or tongue that speaks anything offensiveagainst the God of 27Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego shall be tornlimb from limb and their 28housesreduced to a rubbishheap, inasmuch as there is 29noothergodwho is able to deliver in this way."
30Then the king30caused Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego to prosper in the province of Babylon.
