19 Therefore, brethren, since we 1have confidence to 2enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by 3a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through 4the veil, that is, His flesh, 21 and since we have 5a great priest 6over the house of God, 22 let us 7draw near with a asincere heart in 8full assurance of faith, having our hearts 9sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies 10washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the 11confession of our 12hope without wavering, for 13He who promised is faithful ; 24 and let us consider how 14to stimulate one another to love and 15good deeds, 25 not forsaking our own 16assembling together, as is the habit of some, but 17encouraging one another; and all the more as you see 18the day drawing near.Christ or Judgment
26 For if we go on 19sinning willfully after receiving 20the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a terrifying expectation of 21judgment and 22THE FURY OF A FIRE WHICH WILL CONSUME THE ADVERSARIES. 28 23Anyone who has set aside the Law of Moses dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 24How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve 25who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean 26the blood of the covenant 27by which he was sanctified, and has 28insulted the Spirit of grace ? 30 For we know Him who said, "29VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY." And again, "30THE LORD WILL JUDGE HIS PEOPLE." 31 It is a 31terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the 32living God. 32 But remember 33the former days, bwhen , after being 34enlightened, you endured a great 35conflict of sufferings, 33 partly by being 36made a public spectacle through reproaches and tribulations, and partly by becoming 37sharers with those who were so treated. 34 For you 38showed sympathy to the prisoners and accepted 39joyfully the seizure of your property, knowing that you have for yourselves 40a better possession and a lasting one. 35 Therefore, do not throw away your 41confidence, which has a great 42reward. 36 For you have need of 43endurance, so that when you have 44done the will of God, you may 45receive cwhat was promised. 37 46FOR YET IN A VERY LITTLE WHILE, 47HE WHO IS COMING WILL COME, AND WILL NOT DELAY. 38 48BUT MY RIGHTEOUS ONE SHALL LIVE BY FAITH ; AND IF HE SHRINKS BACK, MY SOUL HAS NO PLEASURE IN HIM. 39 But dwe are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the epreserving of the soul.New American Standard Bible Copyright © 1960, 1962, 1968, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1975, 1977, 1995 by The Lockman Foundation, La Habra, California.
