James 5:12-20 (New American Standard)

12 But above all, 1my brethren, 2do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath ; but ayour yes is to be yes, and your no, no, so that you may not fall under judgment. 13 Is anyone among you 3suffering ? 4Then he must pray. Is anyone cheerful ? He is to 5sing praises. 14 Is anyone among you sick ? Then he must call for 6the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, b7anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord ; 15 and the 8prayer coffered in faith will d9restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will 10raise him up, and if he has committed sins, ethey will be forgiven him. 16 Therefore, 11confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be 12healed. 13The effective fprayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. 17 Elijah was 14a man with a nature like ours, and 15he prayed gearnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for 16three years and six months. 18 Then he 17prayed again, and 18the hsky ipoured rain and the earth produced its fruit. 19 My brethren, 19if any among you strays from 20the truth and one turns him back, 20 let him know that jhe who turns a sinner from the error of his way will 21save his soul from death and will 22cover a multitude of sins.
