20who has 1setsigns and wonders in the land of Egypt, and even to thisday both in Israel and among mankind; and You have 2made a name for Yourself, as at thisday.
'You 3brought Your peopleIsrael out of the land of Egypt with signs and with wonders, and with a stronghand and with an outstretchedarm and with greatterror;
and gave them thisland, which You 4swore to their forefathers to give them, a landflowing with milk and honey.
'They 5came in and tookpossession of it, but they 6did not obey Your voice or 7walk in Your law; they have donenothing of all that You commanded them to do; therefore You have made 8allthiscalamitycome upon them.
24'Behold, the 9siegeramps have reached the city to take it; and the city is 10given into the hand of the Chaldeans who fightagainst it, because of the 11sword, the famine and the pestilence; and what You have spoken has 12come to pass; and behold, You see it.
'You have said to me, O LordaGOD, "Buy for yourself the field with money and call in witnesses "-although the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.' "
Then the word of the LORDcame to Jeremiah, saying,
27"Behold, I am the LORD, the 13God of allflesh; is anything14toodifficult for Me?"
28Thereforethussays the LORD, "Behold, I am about to 15givethiscity into the hand of the Chaldeans and into the hand of Nebuchadnezzarking of Babylon, and he will take it.
"The Chaldeans who are fightingagainstthiscity will enter and 16setthiscity on fire and burn it, with the 17houseswhere people have offeredincense to Baal on their roofs and poured out drinkofferings to othergods to provoke Me to anger.
30"Indeed the sons of Israel and the sons of Judah have been doingonly18evil in My sight from their youth; for the sons of Israel have been only19provoking Me to anger by the work of their hands," declares the LORD.
