Words to the Disciples
59Thesethings He said19in the synagogue as He taught20in Capernaum.
60
Thereforemany of His 21disciples, when they heard this said, "22This is a difficultstatement; whocanlisten to it?"
61
But Jesus, 23conscious** that His disciplesgrumbled at this, said to them, "Does this24cause you to stumble?
62
"What thenif you see25the Son of Man26ascending to where He was before?
63
"27It is the Spirit who giveslife; the fleshprofitsnothing; 28the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.
64
"But there are 29some of you who do not believe." For Jesus30knew from the beginningwho they were who did not believe, and 31who it was that would betray Him.
65
And He was saying, "For thisreason I have 32said to you, that noonecancome to Me unless*33it has beengranted him from the Father."
