Now he did not saythis on his owninitiative, but 2beinghighpriest that year, he prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the nation,

and not for the nationonly, but in order that He might also3gathertogether into one the children of God who are scatteredabroad.

So from that day on they 4plannedtogether to kill Him.

ThereforeJesus5nolonger continued to walkpubliclyamong the Jews, but wentaway from there to the countrynear the wilderness, into a citycalled6Ephraim; and there He stayed with the disciples.

Now7the Passover of the Jews was near, and manywent up to Jerusalem out of the countrybefore the Passover8to purifythemselves.

So they 9were seeking for Jesus, and were saying to oneanother as they stood in the temple, "What do you think; that He will not come to the feast at all*?"

Now10the chiefpriests and the Pharisees had givenorders that ifanyoneknewwhere He was, he was to report it, so that they might seize Him.
