22AfterthesethingsJesus and His 5disciplescame into the land of Judea, and there He was spendingtime with them and 6baptizing.
23Johnalso was baptizing in AenonnearSalim, because there was muchwaterthere; and people were coming and were being baptized -
for 7John had not yetbeenthrown into prison.
25Thereforetherearose a discussion on the part of John'sdisciples with a Jewabout8purification.
And they came to John and said to him, "9Rabbi, He who was with you 10beyond the Jordan, to whom you 11have testified, behold, He is baptizing and all are coming to Him."
27Johnanswered and said, "12A mancanreceivenothingunless it 13has beengiven him from heaven.
"You yourselvesaare my witnesses that I said, '14I am not the bChrist,' but, 'I have beensentahead of Him.'
"He who has the bride is 15the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoicesgreatlybecause of the bridegroom'svoice. Sothis16joy of mine has been madefull.
"He mustincrease, but I must decrease.
"17He who comes from above is aboveall, 18he who is of the earth is from the earth and speaks of the earth. 19He who comes from heaven is aboveall.
32"What He has seen and heard, of that He 20testifies; and 21noonereceives His testimony.
"He who has received His testimony22has set his seal to this, that God is true.
"For He whomGod has 23sentspeaks the words of God; c24for He gives the Spiritwithoutmeasure.
"25The Fatherloves the Son and 26has givenallthings into His hand.
"He who 27believes in the Sonhaseternallife; but he who 28does not dobey the Son will not seelife, but the wrath of Godabides on him."
