Then2Jesuswent up on the mountain, and there He satdown with His disciples.

Now3the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was near.

ThereforeJesus, lifting up His eyes and seeing that a largecrowd was coming to Him, said to 4Philip, "Where are we to buybread, so that these may eat?"

This He was saying to 5test him, for He Himselfknewwhat He was intending to do.

6Philipanswered Him, "7Twohundreddenarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, for everyone to receive a little."

One of His 8disciples, 9Andrew, SimonPeter'sbrother, said to Him,

"There is a ladherewhohasfivebarleyloaves and two10fish, but what are these for somanypeople?"

Jesussaid, "Have the peoplesitdown."Now there was 11muchgrass in the place. So the mensatdown, in numberabout12fivethousand.

Jesusthentook the loaves, and 13having giventhanks, He distributed to those who were seated; likewisealso of the 14fish as much as they wanted.

When they were filled, He said to His 15disciples, "Gather up the leftoverfragmentsso that nothing* will be lost."
