"And he cried out and said, '3FatherAbraham, havemercy on me, and sendLazarusso that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in 4thisflame.'

"But Abrahamsaid, 'Child, remember that 5during your life you received your goodthings, and likewiseLazarusbadthings; but now he is being comfortedhere, and you are in agony.

'And besidesallthis, between us and you there is a greatchasmfixed, so that those who wish to comeover from here to you will not be able, and that none may crossover from there to us.'

"And he said, 'Then I beg you, father, that you send him to my father'shouse -

for I havefivebrothers -in order that he may 6warn them, so that they will not alsocome to thisplace of torment.'

"But Abrahamsaid, 'They have7Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.'

"But he said, 'No, 8fatherAbraham, but ifsomeonegoes to them from the dead, they will repent!'

"But he said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuadedevenifsomeonerises from the dead.' "
