After He had saidthesethings, He 1was going on ahead, 2going up to Jerusalem.
293When He approachedBethphage and 4Bethany, near the amount that is called5Olivet, He senttwo of the disciples,
30saying, "Go into the villageahead of you; there, as you enter, you will find a colttied on whichnooneyet has eversat ; untie it and bring it here.31"Ifanyoneasks you, 'Why are you untying it?' you shall say, 'The Lordhasneed of it.' "32Sothose who were sentwentaway and found it just as He had told them.
As they were untying the colt, its bownerssaid to them, "Why are you untying the colt ?"
They said, "The Lordhasneed of it."
They brought it to Jesus, 6and they threw their coats on the colt and putJesus on it.
As He was going, they were spreading their coats on the road.
As soon as He was approaching, near the descent of 7the Mount of Olives, the wholecrowd of the disciplesbegan to 8praiseGodcjoyfully with a loudvoice for all the dmiracleswhich they had seen,
38shouting : "9BLESSED IS THE 10KING WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD ; Peace in heaven and 11glory in the highest !"
3912Some of the Phariseesein the crowdsaid to Him, "Teacher, rebuke Your disciples."
But Jesus answered, "I tell you, ifthesebecomesilent, 13the stones will cry out!"41When He approached Jerusalem, He saw the city and 14weptover it,
42saying, "If you had known in thisday, even you, the things which make for peace ! But now they have been hidden from your eyes.43"For the days will come upon you fwhen your enemies will 15throw up a gbarricade against you, and 16surround you and hem you in on everyside,44and they will level you to the ground and your childrenwithin you, and 17they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not recognize18the time of your visitation."
4519Jesus entered the temple and began to drive out those who were selling,
46saying to them, "It is written, '20AND MY HOUSE SHALL BE A HOUSE OF PRAYER,' 21but you have made it a ROBBERS'hDEN."47
And 22He was teachingdaily in the temple ; but the chiefpriests and the scribes and the leadingmen among the people23were trying to destroy Him,
and they could not findianything that they might do, for all the people were hanging on to jevery word He said.
