Zaccheus was trying to seewhoJesus was, and was unable*because of the crowd, for he was small in stature.

So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a 1sycamoretree in order to see Him, for He was about to passthrough that way.

WhenJesuscame to the place, He looked up and said to him, "Zaccheus, hurry and comedown, for today I muststay at your house."

And he hurried and camedown and received Him gladly.

When they saw it, they all began to grumble, saying, "He has gone to be the guest of a man who is a sinner."

Zaccheusstopped and said to 2the Lord, "Behold, Lord, half of my possessions I will give to the poor, and if I have 3defraudedanyone of anything, I will giveback4fourtimes as much."

And Jesussaid to him, "Todaysalvation has come to thishouse, because he, too, is 5a son of Abraham.

"For 6the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."

11 While they were listening to thesethings, Jesus went on to tell a parable, because7He was nearJerusalem, and they supposed that 8the kingdom of God was going to appearimmediately.

So He said, "9A nobleman*went to a distantcountry to receive a kingdom for himself, and then return.

"And he calledten of his slaves, and gave them tenminas and said to them, 'Dobusiness with this until* I come back.'
