While they were tellingthesethings, 1He Himselfstood in their midst and said to them, "Peace be to you."37
But they were startled and frightened and thought that they were seeing2a spirit.
And He said to them, "Why are you troubled, and why do doubtsarise in your ahearts?39"3See My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself; 4touch Me and see, for a spirit does not haveflesh and bones as you see that I have."40
And when He had saidthis, He showed them His hands and His feet.
While they stillb5could not believe it because of their joy and amazement, He said to them, "6Have you anythinghere to eat?"42
They gave Him a piece of a broiledfish;
and He took it and 7ate it before them.
44Now He said to them, "8These are My wordswhich I spoke to you while I was still with you, that allthings which are writtenabout Me in the 9Law of Moses and the Prophets and 10the Psalmsmust be fulfilled."45Then He 11opened their cminds to understand the Scriptures,
and He said to them, "12Thus it is written, that the dChrist would suffer and 13riseagain from the dead the thirdday,47and that 14repentanceefor forgiveness of sins would be proclaimedfin His name to 15all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.48"You are 16witnesses of thesethings.49"And behold, 17I am sendingforth the promise of My Father upon you; but 18you are to stay in the cityuntil you are clothed with power from on high."
And He led them out as far as 19Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them.
51While He was blessing them, He parted from them and was carried up into heaven.
And they, after worshiping Him, returned to Jerusalem with greatjoy,
and were continually in the templegpraisingGod.
