And there was a 1prophetess, Anna the daughter of Phanuel, of 2the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in years3and had lived with her husbandsevenyearsafter her marriage,

and then as a widow to the age of eighty-four*. She neverleft the temple, servingnight and day with 4fastings and prayers.

At that verymoment she came up and began givingthanks to God, and continued to speak of Him to allthose who were 5looking for the redemption of Jerusalem.
Return to Nazareth
39When they had performedeverythingaccording to the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to 6their owncity of Nazareth.

7The Child continued to grow and becomestrong, increasing in wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him.
Visit to Jerusalem
41 Now His parentswent to Jerusalemeveryyear at 8the Feast of the Passover.

And when He becametwelve, they went up there according to the custom of the Feast;

and as they were returning, after spending the 9fullnumber of days, the boyJesusstayedbehind in Jerusalem. But His parents were unaware* of it,

but supposed Him to be in the caravan, and went a day'sjourney; and they began looking for Him among their relatives and acquaintances.

When they did not find Him, they returned to Jerusalemlooking for Him.
