"1He who is faithful in a verylittlething is faithfulalso in much; and he who is unrighteous in a verylittlething is unrighteousalso in much.

"Thereforeif you have not beenfaithful in the use of unrighteous2wealth, who will entrust the true riches to you?

"And if you have not beenfaithful in the use of that which is another's, who will give you that which is your own?

"3Noservantcanservetwomasters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, orelse he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot*serveGod and 4wealth."

Now the Pharisees, who were 5lovers of money, were listening to allthesethings and 6were scoffing at Him.

And He said to them, "You are those who 7justifyyourselves in the sight of men, but 8Godknows your hearts; for that which is highlyesteemedamongmen is detestable in the sight of God.

"9The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed untilJohn; since that time10the gospel of the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it.
