24 And there arosealso1a disputeamong them as to which one of them was regarded to be greatest.

2And He said to them, "The kings of the Gentileslord it over them; and those who haveauthorityover them are called'Benefactors.'

"But it is not thisway with you, 3but the one who is the greatestamong you must becomelike4the youngest, and the leaderlike the servant.

"For 5who is greater, the one who reclines at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at the table? But 6I amamong* you as the one who serves.

"You are those who have stood by Me in My 7trials;
29
and just as My Fatherhasgranted Me a 8kingdom, I grant you
30
that you may 9eat and drink at My table in My 10kingdom, and 11you will sit on thronesjudging the twelvetribes of Israel.

"Simon, Simon, behold, 12Satanhasdemanded permission to 13sift you likewheat;

but I 14have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, whenonce you have turnedagain, 15strengthen your brothers."

16But he said to Him, "Lord, with You I amready to goboth to prison and to death!"

And He said, "I say to you, Peter, the rooster will not crowtodayuntil you have deniedthreetimes that you know Me."

And He said to them, "17When I sent you out withoutmoneybelt and bag and sandals, you did not lackanything, did you?" They said, "No, nothing."

And He said to them, "But now, whoeverhas a moneybelt is to take it along, likewisealso a bag, and whoeverhasnosword is to sell his coat and buy one.

"For I tell you that this which is writtenmust be fulfilled in Me, '18AND HE WAS NUMBERED WITH TRANSGRESSORS '; for 19that which refers to Me has its fulfillment."

They said, "Lord, look, here are two20swords." And He said to them, "It is enough."
