1John answered and said to them all, "As for me, I baptize you with water; but One is coming who is mightier than I, and I am not fit to untie the thong of His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
"His 2winnowing fork is in His hand to thoroughly clear His threshing floor, and to gather the wheat into His barn; but He will burn up the chaff with 3unquenchable fire."
So with many other exhortations he preached the gospel to the people.
But when 4Herod the tetrarch was reprimanded by him because of 5Herodias, his brother's wife, and because of all the wicked things which 6Herod had done,
Herod also added this to them all: 7he locked John up in prison.
8Now when all the people were baptized, Jesus was also baptized, and while He was 9praying, heaven was opened,
and the Holy Spirit descended upon Him in bodily form like a dove, and a voice came out of heaven, "10You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased."
11When He began His ministry, Jesus Himself was about thirty years of age, being, as was supposed, the son of 12Joseph, the son of Eli,
the son of Matthat, the son of Levi, the son of Melchi, the son of Jannai, the son of Joseph,
the son of Mattathias, the son of Amos, the son of Nahum, the son of Hesli, the son of Naggai,
the son of Maath, the son of Mattathias, the son of Semein, the son of Josech, the son of Joda,
