43Joseph of Arimatheacame, a 4prominentmember of the Council, whohimself was 5waiting for the kingdom of God; and he 6gathered up courage and went in beforePilate, and asked for the body of Jesus.
44Pilatewonderedif He was dead by thistime, and summoning the centurion, he questioned him as to whether He was alreadydead.
And ascertaining this from 7the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph.
Joseph bought a linencloth, took Him down, wrapped Him in the linencloth and laid Him in a tombwhich had beenhewn out in the rock; and he rolled a stoneagainst the entrance of the tomb.
