send them awayso that they may go into the surroundingcountryside and villages and buythemselvessomething to eat."

But He answered them, "You give them something to eat!"1And they said to Him, "Shall we go and spendtwohundred2denarii on bread and give them something to eat?"

And He said to them, "Howmanyloaves do you have? Golook!" And when they found out, they said, "Five, and twofish."

And He commanded them all to sitdown by groups on the greengrass.

They satdown in groups of hundreds and of fifties.

And He took the fiveloaves and the twofish, and looking up towardheaven, He 3blessed the food and broke the loaves and He kept giving them to the disciples to setbefore them; and He divided up the twofish among them all.

and they picked up twelvefull4baskets of the brokenpieces, and also of the fish.

There were 5fivethousandmen who ate the loaves.

456Immediately Jesus made His disciplesget into 7the boat and goahead of Him to the otherside to 8Bethsaida, while He Himself was sending the crowdaway.

After 9bidding them farewell, He left10for the mountain to pray.
