1The Phariseescame out and began to argue with Him, 2seeking from Him a sign from heaven, to test Him.

3Sighingdeeply in His spirit, He said, "Why does thisgenerationseek for a sign? Truly I say to you, 4nosign will be given to thisgeneration."

Leaving them, He againembarked and wentaway to the otherside.

And they had forgotten to takebread, and did not havemorethanoneloaf in the boat with them.

And He was givingorders to them, saying, "5Watch out! Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of 6Herod."

They began to discuss with oneanother the fact that they hadnobread.

And Jesus, aware of this, said to them, "Why do you discuss the fact that you havenobread? 7Do you not yetseeorunderstand? Do you have a hardenedheart?

"8HAVINGEYES, DO YOU NOT SEE? AND HAVINGEARS, DO YOU NOT HEAR? And do you not remember,

when I broke9the fiveloaves for the fivethousand, howmany10basketsfull of brokenpieces you picked up?" They said to Him, "Twelve."
20
"When I broke 11the seven for the fourthousand, howmanylarge12basketsfull of brokenpieces did you pick up?" And they said to Him, "Seven."
21
And He was saying to them, "13Do you not yetunderstand?"
