1Jesus enteredJerusalem and came into the temple; and after lookingaround at everything, 2He left for Bethany with the twelve, since it was alreadylate.

3On the nextday, when they had leftBethany, He became hungry.

Seeing at a distance a figtree in leaf, He went to see ifperhaps He would findanything on it; and when He came to it, He foundnothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs.

He said to it, "May nooneever*eatfruit from you again!" And His disciples were listening.
Jesus Drives Money Changers from the Temple
154Then they came to Jerusalem. And He entered the temple and began to drive out those who were buying and selling in the temple, and overturned the tables of the moneychangers and the seats of those who were sellingdoves;

and He would not permitanyone to carrymerchandisethrough the temple.

And He began to teach and say to them, "Is it not written, '5MY HOUSE SHALL BE CALLED A HOUSE OF PRAYER FOR ALL THE NATIONS '? 6But you have made it a ROBBERS'DEN."

The chiefpriests and the scribesheard this, and 7began seekinghow to destroy Him; for they were afraid of Him, for 8the wholecrowd was astonished at His teaching.

9Wheneveningcame, they would go out of the city.

10As they were passing by in the morning, they saw the figtreewithered from the roots up.

Being reminded, Petersaid to Him, "11Rabbi, look, the figtreewhich You cursed has withered."
