When He wentashore, He 1saw a largecrowd, and feltcompassion for them and 2healed their sick.

When it was evening, the disciplescame to Him and said, "Thisplace is desolate and the hour is alreadylate; sosend the crowdsaway, that they may go into the villages and buyfood for themselves."

But Jesussaid to them, "They do not need to goaway; you give them something to eat!"

They said to Him, "We havehereonly**3fiveloaves and twofish."

Ordering the people to sitdown on the grass, He took the fiveloaves and the twofish, and looking up towardheaven, He 4blessed the food, and breaking the loaves He gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds,

and they allate and were satisfied. They picked up what was leftover of the brokenpieces, twelvefull5baskets.

There were aboutfivethousandmen who ate, besideswomen and children.
Jesus Walks on the Water
226Immediately He made the disciplesget into the boat and goahead of Him to the otherside, while He sent the crowdsaway.

After He had sent the crowdsaway, 7He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray; and when it was evening, He was therealone.

But the boat was already a longdistance from the land, battered by the waves; for the wind was 8contrary.
