and they bound Him, and led Him away and 1delivered Him to 2Pilate the governor.

Then when 3Judas, who had betrayed Him, saw that He had been condemned, he feltremorse and returned4the thirtypieces of silver to the chiefpriests and elders,

saying, "I have sinned by betrayinginnocentblood." But they said, "What is that to us? 5See to that yourself!"

And he threw the pieces of silver into 6the templesanctuary and departed; and 7he wentaway and hanged himself.

The chiefprieststook the pieces of silver and said, "It is not lawful to put them into the templetreasury, since it is the price of blood."

And they conferred*together and with the moneybought the Potter'sField as a burialplace for strangers.

8For thisreason that field has been called the Field of Blood to thisday.

Then that which was spokenthroughJeremiah the prophet was fulfilled: "9AND THEY TOOK THE THIRTYPIECES OF SILVER, THE PRICE OF THE ONE WHOSEPRICE HAD BEEN SET by the sons of Israel;

10AND THEY GAVE THEM FOR THE POTTER'SFIELD, AS THE LORDDIRECTED

1111NowJesusstoodbefore the governor, and the governorquestioned Him, saying, "Are You the 12King of the Jews?" And Jesussaid to him, "13It is as you say."

And while He was being accused by the chiefpriests and elders, 14He did not answer.
