34
3they gave Him 4wine to drinkmixed with gall; and after tasting it, He was unwilling* to drink.
35
And when they had crucified Him, 5they divided up His garmentsamong themselves by castinglots.
36
And sittingdown, they began to 6keepwatchover Him there.
37
And above His head they put up the chargeagainst Him which read, "7THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS."
38
At that timetworobbers were crucified with Him, one on the right and one on the left.
39
And thosepassing by were hurlingabuse at Him, 8wagging their heads
40
and saying, "9You who are going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in threedays, saveYourself! 10If You are the Son of God, comedown from the cross."
41
In the sameway the chiefpriestsalso, along with the scribes and elders, were mocking Him and saying,
42
"11He savedothers; He cannot*saveHimself. 12He is the King of Israel; let Him nowcomedown from the cross, and we will believe in Him.
43
"13HE TRUSTS IN GOD; LET GODRESCUE Him now, IF HE DELIGHTS IN HIM; for He said, 'I am the Son of God.' "

53
and coming out of the tombsafter His resurrection they entered23the holycity and appeared to many.
54
24Now the centurion, and those who were with him 25keepingguardoverJesus, when they saw26the earthquake and the things that were happening, became veryfrightened and said, "Trulythis was 27the Son of God!"
55
