12Now I want you to know, brethren, that my circumstances8have turned out for the greaterprogress of the 9gospel,
13so that my d10imprisonment in the cause of Christ has becomewellknownthroughout the wholeepraetorianguard and to 11everyoneelse,
and that most of the fbrethren, trusting in the Lord because of my g12imprisonment, have13farmorecourage to speak the word of Godwithoutfear.
1514Some, to be sure, are preachingChristevenhfrom envy and strife, but somealsoifrom goodwill ;
the latter do it out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the 15gospel ;
the formerproclaimChrist16out of selfishambitionjratherthan from puremotives, thinking to cause me distress in my k17imprisonment.
18Whatthen ? Only that in everyway, whether in pretenseor in truth, Christ is proclaimed ; and in this I rejoice. Yes, and I will rejoice,
